Job summaryA rare opportunity has come up to become part of our POPS (Perioperative Care of Older People Undergoing Surgery) Team here at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. This is a relatively new team that are already Nationally recognised for the excellent service they provide to patients.The post involves delivering prehabilitation in a variety of formats to high risk patients who are due to undergo vascular, urology or orthopaedic elective surgeries. Work could be within outpatients (clinics, gym or hydrotherapy), on the wards or within the community, assessing a patient in their home environment. and will adjust according to patient need.This would suit a Physiotherapist who has a broad range of experience and is adaptable & dynamic and enjoys a varied client group.This clinical specialist position offers the exciting prospect of helping to lead the ongoing development of this service collaboratively with a well-established multidisciplinary team.Main duties of the jobThis post holder will help lead, develop and evaluate the POPS Physiotherapy service at Kent and Canterbury Hospital working alongside colleagues within the vascular, surgical and orthopaedic teams.They will provide therapeutic clinical expertise, high quality advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team. Clinical supervision, appraisal and teaching including taking students will be components of this role.They will demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative working, along with other clinical specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service.In conjunction with the Clinical and Site Lead they will ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management.About usWe are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 695,000 people.Our vision is ‘great healthcare from great people’.
