Following a Local Area SEND inspection in October 2023, Middlesbrough received a Grade 1 outcome which means that support for children and young people with SEND in Middlesbrough typically leads to positive experiences and outcomes for children and young people.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join an outstanding team who are committed to continuing to work hard to meet the needs of our children and young people.We are seeking to recruit someone who is passionate about children and young people, who has well developed communication and organisational skills, someone who wants to make a difference to the lives of our families.Each officer is responsible for an allocated caseload, the caseload is made up of:
- children newly referred for assessment
- children undergoing the statutory assessment process
- children who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) in place and who need regular reviews.
You will be expected to continually monitor the status and progress of the children within your caseload.You will have a good command of process based working and understand the necessity for excellent data management and be able to work in line with the SEND Code of Practice and its statutory milestones. You will have excellent report writing skills.You will have a well developed ability to collaborate within our multiagency setting. You will need a calm head and an optimistic outlook as you work collaboratively to bring about the best solutions within the statutory framework. In a multi-agency setting you will represent the SEND Assessment and Review Team and collaborate in an open, honest and straightforward manner. Our families and partners are obviously as passionate about the children and young people as we are and you must be comfortable with constructive challenge whilst being able to maintain effective relationships.This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to be office based two days, with the ability to work from home for the remainder of your working week. The role also requires visits to schools and settings throughout the working week.
